Doug Smerek started his martial arts career in 1982 with Shotokan where he trained for 7 years and obtained the rank of Shodan. Shortly after that he switched to Goju-Ryu under the instruction of Shihan Peter Brown. Doug is a seasoned competitor being on the Karate Alberta Association provincial team for 10 years and made the National Karate Association National B Team in 1994.
With both a Physical Education and Education Degree Doug brings extensive teaching abilities and enthusiasm. His primary areas of focus are discipline and physical fitness. |
