COVID-19 Protocol and Procedure

NOTE: Due to increased restrictions put in place by Alberta Health Services, our physical in-person classes have been cancelled until further notice.

Covid-19 Form

Before Coming to Class

  • IMPORTANT: If you are sick or are not feeling well, do not come to class until you have fully recovered.
    • Parents, please observe your child for symptoms (coughing, sneezing, fever etc.), and do not bring/send your child to class if they are displaying symptoms.
  • A COVID-19 Form must be completed before each class and submitted to the instructor.
  • What to bring to class:
    • bring your own water bottle, labelled with your name
    • bring your own hand sanitizer
    • arrive to class dressed in your karate gi
    • arrive to class wearing a mask, also a zip-lock bag to store your mask is recommended
    • bring your own gym bag to hold the above items, as well as your coat or jacket in the winter

Arrival

  • Please wear a mask when you arrive and are waiting to enter the training hall.
  • Maintain physical distance while waiting.
  • Hand in a completed COVID-19 Form.
  • Your temperature will be checked and recorded using a non-contact thermometer.
  • If there is a class in session, wait until it has ended and you are given permission to enter.
  • Upon entering the training hall, find a suitable spot for your gym bag away from others.
  • At this point, you may take off your mask as you wait for training to begin.

During Training

  • Physical distancing between students and instructors.
  • We will slowly reintroduce partner exercises within cohorts.
  • During water breaks, avoid crowding and gathering in groups.

Departure

  • Class will end 5-10 minutes early to allow for orderly departure and to avoid crowding.
  • After the end-of-class seiza (kneel and bow), students will be dismissed line by line to quickly retrieve their gym bag, get dressed, and put on their mask.
  • Students will leave by a different door from the one they arrived in, so as to avoid other students who may be waiting for the next class to begin.

Miscellaneous

  • Parents and spectators are not allowed in the training hall while a class is in session. Pickup and drop-off only.
  • Hand sanitizers will be available, but we recommend that students bring and use their own hand sanitizer.
  • It is imperative that students bring their own water bottles. We will not allow lineups and crowding at the water fountain.
  • Washrooms are available, but we discourage its usage. Please see to your washroom needs before coming to class.

Schedule

IMPORTANT: Please arrive early. There will be a ~15 minute check-in period before each class to collect forms and take temperature readings. Also, classes will end ~5 minutes early for orderly departure. Please be on time when picking up your children at the end of class.
